Kid on the Run is an autobiographical photo book along the topics of conflict, identity and self-refelction. Raised within a high-control religious environment, the photographer left the community in 2016 at age 25, severing ties with faith and familiar structures. He embarked on a journey to Lisbon in search of answers and images that reflect his inner life and go beyond literal articulation.
The book explores shifting perceptions of reality, capturing the psychological movement between two worlds: the rigid past and an open, uncertain present.
The photographs reflect fragmented states— between loss, fear and quiet revolt. Each image is part of an inner negotiation, where the medium of photography becomes a tool for self-reflection. It’s an intimate confrontation with beliefs, memory, and the shifting landscape of the self.
The layout of the book pairs original photographs with excerpts from My Book of Bible Stories, a foundational text of the artist’s childhood education. The tension between institutional narratives and personal vision highlights the core conflict: imposed identity versus self-constructed meaning.
